Car Audio

If you’re a real music fan then you’ll probably have a half decent stereo in your car, and if not, you should! When it comes to car audio there are many factors that may affect the sort of set up you go for. Time, knowledge, budget can all affect your car audio system. If you don’t have that much space in your car then there’s no point in going for 10 or 12 inch subs. Budget wise there’s no point in getting ridiculously powerful speakers if you can’t afford a powerful enough amp. Again there’s no point in fitting your car with an overly loud stereo if the sound quality is rubbish and there is not enough bass response. In my opinion it is better to go for a balance of sound quality, bass response and overall volume. Which of these are more important is down to you, but car audio should be taken seriously.

When it comes to car audio it is also a good idea to take into account the sort of speaker design that you require. As cars are small enclosed spaces this greatly effects the speaker’s movement (and thus bass response) in non-enclosed speakers. To combat this it is worth investing in a ported or horned sub woofer as this negates the pressure levels of the space the speaker is in. Car audio is different from home stereo and the products are usually designed specifically for car audio. This is different to the HI-FI equipment that you find in your home.
